Sizzly at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair

  • October 2, 2024

Innovative spirit in the heart of Greece

We are very proud that sizzly to be part of the German startup delegation at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) in Greece this year. From September 9 to 17, Thessaloniki was all about innovation and technology in the late summer of 2024.

TIF, the largest trade fair in Southeast Europe, offered us the ideal platform to present our innovative digital ordering and payment solutions. Our aim is to automate and revolutionize processes in the hospitality industry, communal catering, (company) catering and events. This year, the focus for us was not only on presenting products, but also on exploring new markets - especially Greece, which is proving to be an exciting and emerging market for digital innovations.

Germany as Guest of Honor country under the motto #madeingermany

This year, Germany was in the spotlight at TIF as an "honored country", providing a unique opportunity to showcase Germany's economic strength, engineering skills and innovative spirit. Over 100 German companies and start-ups took part in the trade fair and presented themselves on an impressive area of over 6000 m². Under the motto #madeingermany, a wide range of innovative technologies and services were presented, underpinning Germany's international competitiveness.

Sizzly in the German Pavilion - Digital solutions for the gastronomy of tomorrow

At stand B:30 of the Digital Hub Initiative in the German Pavilion, sizzly had the opportunity to present its solutions to a wide audience. Thanks to funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, we were able to show how digital technologies can change the hospitality and catering industry. Our solutions make it possible to automate ordering and payment processes, which not only increases efficiency but also significantly improves the customer experience.

We see enormous potential for our products, particularly in Greece, a market with growing demand for digitalized processes in the hospitality industry. The positive response to our solutions and the numerous discussions with interested stakeholders confirm our intention to become active in new markets.

Highlight: The visit of prominent guests

An absolute highlight of the trade fair was the visit by high-ranking political representatives to the stand of the Digital Hub Initiative, where sizzly was also represented. Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir visited the German Pavilion (Pavilion 13) and showed great interest in the innovations presented. It was a special honor to be part of this delegation and to present the German startup scene and our solutions to an international audience.

New collaborations and networks established

Attending TIF allowed us to have valuable conversations with other innovative startups and explore potential collaborations. The dynamics at the fair were impressive - from startups developing cutting-edge technologies to established companies looking for new ways to optimize their business models. We were able to make valuable contacts that could pave the way for exciting German-Greek collaborations in the near future.

Conclusion: A successful trade fair with promising prospects

Participation in the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair was a great success for sizzly . Not only were we able to present our solutions to a broad international audience, but we also made valuable new contacts and laid the foundation for potential collaborations in Greece and beyond. The sponsorship of the German Startup Delegation and the support of the Digital Hub Initiative were invaluable for us.

We look forward to future developments and to continuing to work at the interface between technology and the hospitality industry in order to shape the processes of the future.
