Sizzly & Stüwer present innovative retail solutions
EuroCIS 2024 - a retail hotspot in Düsseldorf
EuroCIS 2024 is regarded as the exclusive hotspot for retail technology in Europe. With 13,500 trade visitors from 95 countries and 475 exhibitors from 41 countries, the trade fair was a magnet for industry professionals and decision-makers.
The retail industry is in a constant state of change, and recent developments at the EuroCIS trade fair have shown a clear trend towards automated sales solutions and digital ordering and payment solutions. Together with Stüwer GmbH, we were represented at this trade fair in Düsseldorf from February 27 to 29 and presented innovative approaches that will shape the future of retail.
Trend towards automated sales solutions
A clear trend at EuroCIS 2024 was the increased focus on automated sales solutions, particularly in conjunction with digital ordering and payment solutions. Together with our cooperation partner, Stüwer GmbH, we presented innovative approaches and the latest developments that reflect this trend and show how retail is moving towards a digital future.
Digital ordering and payment solutions on the rise
Another clear trend that emerged at the trade fair was the increased use of digital ordering and payment solutions - from ordering apps to self-checkout terminals. Customers today expect seamless and convenient shopping experiences that allow them to order and pay for products quickly and easily.
Networked offers and complete solutions
The trade fair also showed that demand for overall concepts and networked solutions has increased significantly. From (pre-)ordering, product selection and payment through to product issue - various solutions must go hand in hand and enable a smooth overall process. The integration and processing of background processes such as purchasing, logistics, stocking and billing must not be neglected. This applies not only to individual customers, but to a wide range of industries.
Whether it's catering for employees or setting up a snack bar in a hotel, for example, networked offerings are becoming increasingly relevant. Companies must offer holistic solutions to meet the needs of their customers.
Innovative cooperation solution from sizzly and Stüwer
One highlight of the trade fair was the presentation of a cooperation solution from Sizzly and Stüwer. We presented an innovative solution for the operation of 24/7 supermarkets/canteens and vending machines for 24/7 direct sales. This solution allows customers to purchase products around the clock while providing a seamless and efficient shopping experience. The provider can also dispense with staff in times of staff shortages, fully digitize and automate the sales process and generate sales outside of opening hours.
Two different configuration options are offered:
- Vending machines that are designed to dispense pre-orders.
- Vending machines that are configured for direct sales on site.
Pre-orders with sizzly at the Stüwer vending machine
Pre-orders can be placed up to a set deadline via sizzly and the provider can equip their vending machine accordingly. The customer then collects their pre-order from the vending machine by scanning the QR code on their smartphone. The vending machine then dispenses the pre-ordered items one after the other. This vending machine solution is ideal for local retailers, butchers, bakeries or farm stores, which often suffer from a lack of staff and are quickly overloaded, especially at weekends or before vacations and public holidays. Pre-ordered bread rolls or cakes, for example, could then simply be deposited in the vending machine and picked up there.
In addition, the basic principle can be supplemented and expanded by choosing different vending machine systems. With the Stüwer combi vending machine, for example, meals can be purchased and collected in sustainable reusable stainless steel trays, which can be immediately heated to the right temperature ready for consumption by scanning the tray on the integrated microwave unit. This solution forms the ideal basis for the operation of a 24/7 canteen for catering to employees or pupils/students. The concept offers huge added value for shift operations, especially in critical infrastructures such as the healthcare sector, which can provide paramedics, nursing staff and doctors with a hot meal around the clock.
Direct sales with sizzly at the Stüwer vending machine
Similar to pre-ordering, direct sales work as follows: the customer scans a QR code directly on site at the Stüwer fresh food vending machine with their own smartphone. The sizzly ordering app then opens with the vending machine's product range. Items can be selected and paid for. When the purchase is completed, the vending machine is automatically activated directly via the smartphone and the purchased items are dispensed one after the other - without any additional interaction at the vending machine. This means that products can be sold 24/7, 365 days a year without sales staff. The concept can be used in a wide range of sectors, in retail, in agricultural stores or, for example, at service areas and petrol stations.
The future of retail is digital and connected
All in all, EuroCIS 2024 impressively demonstrated that the future of retail is digital and connected. Innovative solutions that meet the needs of customers play a decisive role in this. From automated sales solutions to digital ordering and payment solutions - the retail sector is facing exciting challenges and opportunities that need to be exploited.
